On Thursday October 6th nearly 250 young professionals from the African American and Jewish communities came together to attend Access for Jewish Young Professionals’ Political Party 2016 at The Phoenix in downtown Cincinnati. This free, bipartisan event was aimed at increasing Millennial’s knowledge and perspective of some of the critical issues at play in the upcoming election and inspiring them to turn out to the polls. Standing in for the two presidential candidates were Trump surrogate and TV reality star, Omarosa Manigault, best known for her role on NBC’s The Apprentice, and Clinton surrogate, Congressman Rep. Cedric Richmond from Louisiana’s 2nd District.
After a sit down dinner and a lively discussion and debate between the surrogates, guests attended a dessert reception where they got the chance to meet 60 down ballot candidates, or their representatives from both parties, and learn about their views, ask questions and enjoy some “all-American pie” while mixing and mingling with other YPs.
The event was sponsored by Access for Jewish Young Professionals, Cincinnati Young Black Professionals – CYBP, The Collective of the NAACP, Urban League Young Professionals of Greater Southwestern Ohio, and made possible through the generosity of The Mayerson Foundation.
